Gay guys are always thirsty for sex — and other myths
We all know that gay guys are thirsty for sex.
Just look at the endless parade of shirtless men we’re forced to scroll through on Instagram, guys in pants panting for Likes. Meanwhile dating app Grindr racks up 10.8 million users a month. That’s a whole lot of thirst.
And we all know that gay men want more sex, with more partners, than straight men.
Or do we?
A lot of myths have built up around gay sex drive, but you’ll be surprised to hear they have very little basis in fact. Relatively little research has been carried out into the sexual desire of gay men, and many of those findings are inconclusive.
Thankfully what has been discovered so far has been analysed by Filippo Maria Nimbi and his colleagues at the Sapienza University of Rome’s Department of Dynamic and Clinical Psychology.
So strap yourself in — it’s time to bust some myths wide open:
Gay men have a higher sex drive than straight men
This is a myth. Research so far has not conclusively found that gay men have a higher sex drive than straight men.
Some research has indicated that gay men may have just a moderately higher sex drive than straight men or women.
